Health Benefits Eating Honey
The theory is that eating local honey will reduce or eliminate seasonal allergies. Colonies of honeybees, in the area you live, produce honey that contains trace amounts of pollen from you surrounding location. Eating honey on a regular basis will build up an immunity to the pollen. It’s like getting a little “vaccine”.
There does not seem to be much scientific evidence to back this up. One argument agents honey acting as an allergy vaccine is: there is not enough pollen in the honey to produce a tiny reaction needed to build up immunity. However, there are studies that show it does (Allergy. 1992 Feb;47(1):41-9). This is mostly due to the pollen it contains. In my mind, it seems reasonable this is an idea worth trying.
